Dave,

Congrats on the new rig, you will love it.  While I don't use either one 
of these software packages, I know most are looking for 9600 baud which 
is the default for the serial connection.    If you are going to use the 
USB connection, try  setting everything to 9600: menu 62 in the 
radio(which is usb port speed), also your loggers and the Kenwood 
control program.  Everything will be happy at 9600.

Something you may not know is that you can have 2 programs connected at 
the same time, one on the usb and another on the serial port.  They can 
both work at the same time without conflict.  Maybe a logger on one port 
and control program on the other.    I rarely do this, but it can be done.
