Type the subject line of this message into Google, or whatever you use
for searches, and you will find hours of reading, plus recordings of
"Dr." Brinkley, and other audio.

X E R F and X E G are still around, but are down to a mere 50 kw,
perhaps even less, these days.

I'm not sure of the status of X E L O, which was on 800 KHZ, and the
one from Monterey which was on 540.

There is some more interesting reading about X E R F in Wolf Man
Jack's book, Have Mercy, which is now on the NLS download page. Wolf
Man is also mentioned in Charlatan, by Pope Brock, which is the book
that began this thread.

Another book which is not in an accessible media yet is the history of
WLS. I have the information about that book around here somewhere if
anyone is interested.

I remember the first time I heard Wolf Man on X E R F. I couldn't
sleep one night at school, so I stuffed my portable radio under my
pillow, and found him while tuning around the band.

My first reaction was "Who on earth is that crazy fool!"
