Wasn't there something you could buy to put between the amp and the 
transceiver for like 50 or 60 dollars that prevented the amp from tripping 
off so easily?  I forget what they called it but a friend of mine bought one 
and it solved the problem and he was a sighted ham but got tired of the amp 
tripping off so many times.
