actually, they do carry a cable that can directly interface with a serial port (on a supported radio). they have one for the kenwood ts-480 and the ™-d700). still, I wish they would keep the old serial ports. I can have the console (like from the BIOS) ported there and read with a terminal communications program on another machine.
