Howard,
I didn't see the first question. This is the obscure sound problem.
After I have been arrowing through a list such as emails, and the email 
sounder occurs all sounds will go away. Most of the time I can close the 
screen reader and after abouth 30 seconds I will get them back. Sometimes I 
have to do a restart but most of the time I can close the screen reader. If 
I am using winamp that complicates things.
