The Flex radios digitize the incoming RF from 30 KHZ to around 74 MHZ. Then
they allocate "slices" out of that spectrum which become receivers. So, a
receiver is essentially a digital "slice" of the spectrum. In other words,
you can think of a slice as a VFO. The 6300 has two slices, analogous to
VFOs A and B, that we all know and love. A Flex 6500 has 4 slices, so I'd
use VFOs A through D to represent them with JJRadio. I didn't implement
that in this release, because I have no way at present to test it with a
real radio.

Jim,

I've heard you use the term "slice" a few times, either on the list, or
on the Friday night echolink net, in discussing JJ Radio and the Flex.

I'm not familiar with the term. Could you give me (and others I'm
sure) a short layman's idea of what a slice is in a SDR radio?
