You can get your frn by looking yourself up on QRZ.  If you already have an 
frn, you don't have to worry about  giving your ss number to someone.  If I 
remember right, when you get a password from the FCC, they give you some 
questions to choose from in case you forget the password.  Like city you 
were born in, or mother's maiden name.   You should be able to get in that 
way.
