Hi all:

Just gotta question about the roller inductor assemblies in manual tuners.
As periodic maintenance, do you have to clean and re_oil certain components?
I feel lately I'm getting handed BS as it relates to my MFJ-986.
A couple of locals, including a friend of mine who helps me from time to time, tells me that you don't have to clean and re_oil the roller inductor or other components because they are sealed.
So what am I to take from that is, throw my tuner away because MFJ and I concur that the roller inductor maybe pitted and the contact wheel isn't making a full proper contact and that's why I'm getting that blasted 75M issue. LOL
I can get the part from MFJ for 63.50USD plus shipping and exchange and I think that would be considerably cheaper then sending my tuner to Toronto Ontario for repairs.
After the contest this weekend, I'm gonna have to just open that sucker up and get my XYL to look at things
while I rotate the roller to see if there's any skipping. Is there anything else I should look for?

73:
Mike VO1AX

Sent from Yahoo Mail for iPhone
