Thanks much, Colin, that's encouraging. The latest Jaws I  have is version 
11 and I refuse to spend the money to upgrade. not that I have it in the 
first place. That's why I'm using NVDA which, with a Nuance Vocalizer voice 
isn't bad at all. Plus, that's what google recommends for Windows users. 
I've seen some Keyboard command lists but still haven't figured out how to 
creat a new document. But I'm encouraged to hear you're having some success
