My wife and I borrow lots of CD books from the county library and that
means these disks get some very rough handling. When a disk "skips" or
just stops playing, I clean it with some liquid soap and warm water. I
remember a tip that suggested you wipe across the circular tracks. A
radial scratch won't matter since the data is spread over the disk and
there is some error correction. Well, be sure to dry the CD and you'll
find the book will play 99% of the time.
