Richard,

I agree with Tom.  It is most likely in place.   I only mentioned it the 
other day as for something to be aware of in case you had a problem 
interfacing.

I would assume it is there, and only worry about it if there is a 
problem getting the radio and tuner to see each other.
When properly set up: cable connected between radio and tuner, interface 
menu set to Kenwood,  tuner powered and turned on first, then when the 
radio is turned on, you will hear a beep.   No beep, no interface 
between radio and tuner.

Take it a step at a time.
