Ed,

Turn the rig off, and turn it back on while pressing the M.In button, which
is the second button from the left in the third row down in the group of
buttons to the right of the main tuning knob. Unfortunately, you'll have to
get someone to read the display for you since the speech doesn't work in
this mode. I'm not sure that it really matters what version of the software
you're running when you upgrade to the new version, although they make a big
deal of having you check the version number before updating the radio. The
first time I tried upgrading the software to this latest version, the update
failed, and when I tried it again, I noticed that the version number had
changed. Incidentally, the software itself tells you the version number
just before it begins writing the new firmware to the radio.

Steve
