I don't use the computer much to program the radio, but sure is handy 
for copying data to a second or third radio.  When I was in Vegas, I set 
up a file with all local repaters and pl and I could easily set up a 
friend's radio.  Like all of this stuff, if you use it great, if you 
don't who cares.  I have aabsolutely no interest in controlling my hf 
rig via the computer, but that doesn't necessarily make me a better 
operator.  THe first thing I bguy for all my hts and so forth these days 
is the computer programming kit.  If I have to do a reset or a clone, 
just write the data back and it is done.
