Here's what I learned about this database during the workshop I attended
last Thursday afternoon.
Basically, it's a Microsoft ExL type spreadsheet. It has fields which are
labeled with the traditional logbook entries. The notable exception is that
there are no fields to reference the sending or receipt of qsl cards,
contest serial numbers, or award numbers. However, these fields can be added
by the user if needed, or this information can simply be written in the
notes field.
The date and time fields will paste automatically from the calendar and
clock if desired.
You can export the database to a comma delimited file for use on other
computers.
I didn't see a way to automatically check for duplicates, but, keep in mind
that I spent less than 5 minutes examining it during the workshop.
That said, it looks like a great tool for casual logging, but may not meet
the needs of a serious contester.
There are also databases for a CD collection, and for a home inventory.
Since I still have a large amount of vinyl, I will likely add a "format"
field to the cd database once I begin cataloging my music.
