If you had it on wide FM you couldn't transmit, try backing away from the
mic when you talk, or don't talk directly in to it, I always talk across
mine, hold it about a 45 degree angle form your mouth, that might help that
unless you got a bad one. I have one and many people around here have them
now, I listen to them every day and they all sound good.
