Hi,

I have that speaker and the actual speaker in the external cabinet appears
to be the same size as that in the radio.

In my opinion, it doesn't really sound any better. The only real advantage
is that the speaker is facing forward toward you instead of facing up as it
does in the radio. This may mean something, especially if you have other
equipment on top of your radio.

I think you could get a better sounding speaker for much less. It is nice
that Kenwood's speaker would match the radio, however, definitely not
necessary. If you get another speaker, it would probably match fine if it
was black in color like the radio.

My two cents worth.
