Gary,

In order for this to work, one of the PF keys on the mic must be defined as 
the Enter key.  Assuming you've done that, do the following:

Press the button immediately above the Tuning knob to put the radio into 
Memory mode.  Then press the PF key you've defined as Enter.  Then, enter 
the number of the memory you want (e.g. 001).  If you enter less than three 
digits, you'll need to press Enter.  Otherwise, you'll hear a long beep 
indicating that you've completed the entry.
