the jaws key AKA insert on the number pad, and f11 gets you to the system 
tray and if it's running it should be there. If not, you might go in start 
menu, programs and in the semantic Norton program from there and see if it's 
set in options not to display in the system tray, it's been a while since I 
used it so I don't remember how much you can do and how much you need the 
jaws curser for but I know I used to be able to work through it. I now use 
Microsoft security essentials and your problem is one of the reasons why, it 
doesn't slow down the computer as bad, in fact I don't even know it's 
running unless I look.
