In order to control the t m v 71 a remotely you put the radio in "sky 
command". If you have a t h f 6 a you can control the t m v 71 a in the "sky 
command" mode. The active elements web site has a manual on the t m v 71 a. 
I also believe that the handiham web site has a pretty good tutorrial on the 
t m v 71 a as well. 73

Hi.

You certainly can control the TM-V71A with an HT.  I don't remember the
exact term for it, but it has remote in it.  You can turn Cross band on and
off, change frequencies, and memories as well.  Just remember that in the
U.S. that you have to use the 440 band to control the radio.
