Brett,

According to a friend of mine who got his information from a Kenwood 
technician, you address the PF functions by grounding either pin 3 or 4 
through a resistor.  Depending on the value of the resistor, you address one 
of two PF keys.  I've thought about building a box with four buttons, one 
for each PF key, but I'm a bit chicken about soldering an RJ45 connector. 
It's too bad none of the Kenwood desk mics have those functions, or that 
somebody hasn't come up with a box similar to what I've described.
