according to the stuff I've looked at the 480 uses the vgs1 recorder unit and synth.

  Hang on, are you sure that the 480 uses the VS3? I could have sworn
  (and I know you shouldn't swear) that when it came out, they had a big
  to-do about it using a different voice module.
