If you are going to use a particular frequency, then a quarter wave length
of bog standard wire cut to that length and used as a counterpoise and
chucked underneath the bench can reduce the RF in the braid and shack.

You can run the counterpoi off the tranceiver, and throw it behind the radio

if necessary.  If you hook it to the braid side of the coax, you have a 
dipole.  You don't know how it will work until you put it up.
