Hi Frank!

It is really easy.  You do need sighted help, though.  All you need is a
screw driver to remove the bottom cover of the rig; and then pop in the
chip!  The chip comes with printed instructions for installation.

Christian, I bought my 2000 last year right after I retired.
I love the radio it is very accessible.
I had good luck with it.
The voice chip does great.
