Remember, we live in a country where the court has decided that 
"corporations are people".  They can't marry, reproduce, experience emotion, 
or have sex change operations.  They can't even be sent to prison for their 
crimes, or vote, but when it comes to investing in campaigns, they are 
people.
Go figure!!!
No, I don't believe anybody "donates more than say $1000 to anybody's 
candidacy for anything.  That much money is invested, not donated.
