Shortly before Lucy walked this planet, I was using a Drake TR-4 on
80-meter SSB talking to some of my teeny-bopper friends. I was using a
modified Simpson 260 multimeter with a piece of wire and diode across
the leads as a jury-rigged RF-sensitive tuning device. I had the wire
laid over the terminals on the back of my matchbox. I was using the
coax connector but the balanced antenna connectors were still there. I
was adjusting the wire when I got across those terminals. Dilemma: the
louder I yelled, it being SSB, the more it hurt! I said a few choice
nasties, all of which went on the air because, of course, I had VOX on
(as did everyone else). Much amusement at my expense ensued!

73/88!
