Thanks for the additional instruction about hitting OK, once the
automatically start Jaws box is un-checked.

I missed that sub-step in my previous instructions to Butch.

I think the basic instructions we have given are pretty standard from one
version of Jaws to the next, at least so far as I can recall.

I'm not a jaws geek, and it may vary a bit depending on jaws version, but:

Open jaws either with the hot keys alt - ctrl - J

or via a desktop icon.

then  go to "options", then " basics" and tab until you find a check box 
that says something like "start jaws automaticly" and uncheck it.   Hit 
"ok", and it shouldn't start next time the  computer restarts.
