Lowell:

Well, I couldn't agree with you more about Abe.

He was a true first-class ham, always interested in helping out however he
could.

Despite his extensive knowledge of electronics, radio, and RF, I never ever
heard him say anything negative about anyone who lacked even the most basic
knowledge. He was always willing to teach you, as long as you were willing
to learn, and he always tried to bring things down to the simplest possible
level.

I can tell you that he is still very sorely missed in these parts.

I had just come back from Colorado when he became a silent key. Because I
was gone when his condition was formally diagnosed, I never got all of the
details, but I believe he secumbed to brain cancer.

I wanted so badly to go to his memorial service, but simply couldn't break
free to make the trip down to Grand Rapids to pay my respects.

Oh yes, regarding the Kalamazoo swap, the only thing I picked up was an 18
amp-hour jell cell battery.

I wanted it as a quickly deployable back-up for my TMV71A, if the power went
out, and it was not possible or feasible to fire up our generator. ... The
generator needs some work anyway, so hopefully this will suffice until I can
figure out what to do in the longer term. The battery cost me all of $15.
