I too think your point is worth considering, and is the reason I have
decided to keep the buffer box.

Also, of course, it never hurts to have another layer of protection in the
system.

Tom,

I'm not sure whether you still need the box, but one advantage of continuing
to use it is that you won't have to make up new cables to control the
amplifier. Call me lazy, but I think that's worsh considering.
