Hi.
I sat down with a friend that has software for modeling antennas and we
looked at the expected performance of my G5RV installation on 75 meter
phone, and even without the fence, it predicted aan impedance of 7 ohms at
that frequency for my height of installation. So, 4 ohms when there is a
chain link fence is all of the sudden not that surprising. Theoretically,
if I could raise the hight of the antenna to 40 feet, the impedance comes
up to 27 ohms and it starts to look like a reasonable load on 75
meters. I'm guessing that this is the reason why my experiences depart so
strikingly from John's experiences.
