I would give the Elecraft k2 a cserious look. I have one, as well as the
new krc2 accessibility / station control box. With this I have access to
all the rig's functions, including menus. What is more, the menus read
with normal text. No more looking up menu numbers as with the kenwoods.

The krc2 attaches to the k2 rs232 port, and can draw its power directly
from the k2. All output is in cw ajustable from approximately 10 to 50
wpm.
With the appropriate options installed, the k2 covers 160 through 10
meters, has an internal battery, and automatic antenna tuner. DSP noise
reduction and audio filtering can be added to complement the already
excelent ajustable if filter in the k2.

Finally, the latest option from Elecraft adds 60 meters, as well as low
level transverter input and output for using vhf or uhf frequencies.

If you have furtherr questions about the k2, please feel free to write, and
I'll do my best to answer them.
