Hi RJ,
Welcome aboard, it's great to have another new ham in the making.

I use the Icom t90a. It does not have speech but does provide the frequency
in morse code. All menus do not wrap, so you can always return yourself to
the first item in the menu. This lets you count the clicks in the detented
selector knob to change settings.

It doesn't have speech, but is pretty accessible and operates on 6 meters, 2
meters and 70 centimeters. You can probably find one used at a reasonable
price, though not as inexpensively as the Boufeng (sic) radios.

BTW, I'm also curious where you're located. I'm in Dunedin, Florida, just
north of Clearwater.

Subject: Introduction and a question

My name is RJ Sandefur, and I live in Florida. I'm studying for my tech =
license with Gorden West. A friend gave me some of his stuff, and I find =
it helpfull. My question is, What type of radio should I get as a = totally
blind person? Is the bowfang or the kinwood any good? RJ
