    I'm not an expert on propagation, but I'd be very interested in any 
explanation anyone has for what we are experienceing here.

It just seems like 40 should be working better for us, given the time of the 
evening we have chosen.

I have been on frequency with Steve WA1RTB but have lost him.  He spoke with
Albert in NC who I  couldn't hear, and he seems to be in contact with a few
others  as his signal is  just above the noise at times and I can tell he is
talking with someone.    Strange band tonight.
