I have had communication with the developer. so far, I haven't had a chance to try out doing this. I need a linux box dedicated to this and a few open ports on my firewall. the SDR unit I have is one of those $8 30 Mhz to 1200 Mhz USB dongles. I have to make sure its compatible with linux. once that is done, then I can use a raspberry pie machine setup with the websdr software and then set it up over at a remote location.

so far, he hasn't struck me as particularly picky. In fact, he's been pretty helpful. Of course, it doesn't hurt that I explained to him that I am a blind ham.
