Depends a lot on your budget. Perhaps the best bang for the buck in all of 
ham radio, go with the Kenwood TS 590. It also happens to be the most 
accessible HF rig out of the box.

On the other hand, for great performance, you can't beat the Elecraft K3, 
especially on CW. its usable out of the box but if you add the Hampod 3rd 
party hardware attachment, you have an extremely accessible rig. i have a 
couple of sighted friends who each had a Kenwood 590 but who have traded 
them in on K3s. Both have fallen in love with the K3, especially the 
receiver. So, again, it depends on your budget and how casual your ham
