Most likely it's been fixed by now. I won't guaranty it but most likely. I 
don't know of any still in use that haven't had that fixed if they're going 
to and I know of many in almost daily use still and even more in backup use.

The 440 does indeed accept a voice board and someone on this list will know
which one. The thing you need to beware of with that rig are the inherrant
problems that strike most of them eventually. Especially, the problem where
a compound used by Kenwood in their manufacture begins to break down. it
becomes very gooey and difficult to remove. It sounds like either that
hasn't happened to this unit yet or it has and has been fixed. It can be
done but the process is not favored by people who work on Kenwood gear. When
the 440 works, its a terific little rig. I still have mine and use it as a
