Are you talking about the past or the present?

Forty-odd years ago, I knew a blind ham who used a Elmac PMR6A/AF67
receiver/transmitter in his car with a meter-reader consisting of a
Wheatstone Bridge with a 2V synchronous vibrator in the central leg as a
chopper with earphones as a tuning device.  When the pointer/dial
matched the meter reading, no noise came thru the phones.

I've known blind guys who used SBE-33's and SBE-34's, Swan-350's, Drake
TR-4's and any number of other rigs mobile.  I used a Drake TR-4 but not
mobile.

If you're talking about present-day gear, then the tales of others are a
better guide; I haven't plaited much with the current generation of HF
gear.
