John, its been my experience that if that cable's on the ground out in the open
that its eventually going to fail on you.  It'd help if you could at least get
it off of the ground.  I'm not familiar with your particular antenna by use but
if you can the best option might be to cut of the connecting plug and shorten
the cable.
