Richard,
Consider the 200 khz that you have on ten meters.  More likely to be 
open than six and your vertical will probably work reasonably well 
there.  And a ten meter dipole isn't that long or difficult - about 
sixteen feet overall.  You can work the world on ten with 100 watts.
