Richard, the casting method works well to get a wire in to a tree.  I am 
personally very reluctant to mount anything at all on a chimney.  That 
morter is brittle.  A mast with a house bracket is much safer.  A small 
tripod will work for light installations.  Some alpha delta antennas require 
a connection from the center of the antenna to earth ground.
