It isn't that hard.  You mount the back of the thermostat on the wall, hook 
each of the wires to the appropriate terminal.  In my HVAC system, there 
were four to hook up and I had to jumper the fifth terminal.  They say to 
get a pro to do that, but you don't need to necessarily.

Knowing you, Al, I don't know how you decide.  Hi hi.  Seriously, there is a 
different model if you have a heat pump or a two-stage blower.  Even though 
I upgraded my firnace to a two-stage unit, I didn't replace my older talking 
thermostat which would have cost an extra $140 or so to get the two-stage 
model.
