I've got the panasonic brand as well. The particular one I have has three 
handsets, and the talking ID comes through each of the handsets as well as 
the base unit. The answering machine on the base does talk as well though as 
others have said, I don't use it since I have voicemail. I'm very impressed 
with the setup.
