Sounds like your carrier level is down, or you don't have the VOX activated.
When you say the tones are ok, I presume you're talking about the monitor
sidetone. What rig are you using?

Subject: On the Air, but Have a Problem

Hi, Folks. Finally got on the air! My dipole's up, and I've had
some nice phone contacts on 80 meters.

However, unable to get my CW to work. When I use my keyer or my
straight key, I get the tones, but the signal's not getting
out. Phone works fine. What do I need to do to get my CW to
work? Thanks much.--Matt, N1IBB.
