Tom,
I've got three of my machines running Windows 10, and I have no complaints.
The only thing you'll have to do is change the default web browser to
Internet Explorer, and pin Internet Explorer to the taskbar, both of which
are easily done. After that, you're pretty much good to go except for any
minor tweaks you want to make, and those will be personal preference. I'd
get away from XP as soon as you can because it really is open to all sorts
of attacks, and you really don't want to have to deal with security issues
on an unsupported OS.
