Hi John,
That was one of the first things I checked.  Myself and a sighted friend
checked every thing that we could think of.  So, thanks to Tom's
information, I'm going to send it to Cliff Holland to see if he can find the
problem.

you're not set for the receive antenna I take it? I'd make very sure you're 
hooked to the right antenna jack, switch it over, or hit the function button

and the antenna tuner button and it will switch the HF jacks.
