Tom,
I have the Super 3, and no history with the Super 2, so can't really 
offer an opinion.  I believe that the C Crane SW is superior on A M 
and the F M is probably equivalent.  The Crane A M is extremely good 
and has a very directional antanna.  I can null 670 A M, which is 
less than ten miles from me and hear 660 from New York City.  What I 
don't care for with the receiver is the multitude of knobs and 
buttons which I don't fully understand.  I plan to write Danny and 
see if I can get a copy of his audio tutorial and then, perhaps I 
will appreciate the receiver more.
We have the old C Crane two in our kitchen.  The one with the old TV 
vhf band, NOAA and A M and F M.  It too has a great A M 
section.  However it has a couple of multifunction arrow keys on the 
top of the receiver and if one isn't careful, one will activate the 
damned alarm function and it stays on until a set of eyes comes by to 
turn it off!!
I also have a pocket portable Crane receiver which too is AM, FM and 
shortwafe.  It has a numeric keypad and a bunch of other buttons - 
the manual download from C Crane sends a PDF manual which is about 
useless for a blind guy.  I find it pretty inaccessible and it made 
me P Oed enough that I took out the batteries and put it back in its 
box!!  Glad I only have $40 in it!!  Again, with the right 
documentation, I might learn to love it!!
