Hi Steve, if I had that many memories, I'd sure do the same
thing. 73, Jim

Jim,

The speech sure does make it easy to program memories from the
front of the
radio. I like the programming software for sorting the memories
so they
stay in ascending frequency order. I would also use it if I ever
had to
restore all my programmed memories because I'd somehow wiped them
out. I
have at least a couple hundred, and I'd hate to have to do all
that work
again.

Steve

I have had my 71A for several years and have never felt the need
to use a computer to program it. For one thing, I only have
about 15 memories programmed, but mainly I find it so easy to
program with the VGS1 chip installed that I really have never
wanted to hook it up to a computer. 73, Jim WA6EKS

 Richard,

When I got mine about three years ago, the programming cable
 terminated in a
serial connection. You might check with your favorite ham
 emporium to see
 if that has changed.

 Hi;
Since this radio is on my wish list I wonder what kind of
 connector they
are using if I want to connect it to my pc? I'm certain they
 wouldn't
be nice and use a simple usb connection.
