Collin 20 sound like the best band for the distance in question.  30-meters is cw and digital only and has coverage similar to 40 meters about 700 miles at night.  17 and 12 meters will work on occasions but their characteristics are similar to the 15 and 10 meter bands.  73- pat kk3f
