I know what you mean,  buying my F6A really set me back, but anyway, check
out maha for the battery for your ADI HT, just do a search for MAHA, I don't
know the actual site off hand but they have a battery for that, and as far
as accessible HT's that are cheaper, Honestly I don't know of any off hand,
I'm surprised no one else is putting their input out on this one. I'm sure
there are some out there, just that I've only had a couple of them. Too much
money for me to try them all but if I could, I would for sure. You might
check out the handi-hams site and see if they have recommendations.
