I know QRZ has a way to search by zip code, city, state or what ever you
want to search by. I've used it. The problem is though, who's active and who
isn't.

Hi all,
A friend wishes to write an article about ham radio and was addressing =
this to the general public. He was wondering if there might be a source =
available to the general public on how one can find if there any ham =
radio operators in their area. This would be for a person who is =
preparing an emergency kit and wanted to know if there is any hams in =
his area in case he has to notify family that he is OK. I thought the =
ARRL would be a source, but there isn=E2=80=99t a search by zip codes. =
I know that there is a zip code search under the advance search page on =
any of the callsign data bases. Gary KB2YAA
