you are correct it works with the 2000 and also works with older rigs like the 450, although that radio never needed an external tuner, as it's built in tuner was incredibly good. why they didn't just leave that tuner for the 2000 is beyond me as it had no problem even on 60 meters, which the built in 2000 tuner is worse than useless for became of short sighted design.
